I got to the site and had a quick look around then my PC froze up. Is Woot an information site or is it like an auction? I saw that some products had a number of 'woots' marked by their name. All new to me!

If you go to the 'deals' area there are tons of posts about Woot - It is one deal for one day (or until sold out). Sometimes good are new, sometimes they are refurbished (but clearly labeled as such). There is sellout.woot too (Kids Woot, Wine Woot, etc.) linked to the main page of www.woot.com. Yahoo recently bought them (there's probably a a recent post if you do a search for a term like 'woot.' I look every day, but probably only buy something a couple of times a year. I've bought a refurbished Microsoft Zune player, dual 4G USB thumb drives, a VHS player with USB out (to copy to the computer), a camcorder (I have yet to use it but when I went on vacation in Dec. I still had my old mini-DV, and while I like it, especially for the use it sees - it is 5+ years old and I looked around after I came back and it was about 3 mos. ago or so they had a Sanyo HD camcorder (that used SD cards) new for $140 and for that price I just grabbed it. It is one third what I paid for the mini-DV camcorder (which is one half what I paid for the 8mm I had before that) and if it lasts for 5 years I'm OK with it

That's what we are here for. If you go into a store they are looking out for your wallet in a different manner (like how to make the most commission or sell more to impress the boss).

Report back on your experience. It is helpful to others. I watch Woot every day and if there is something I need or might need (OK - sometimes really just want  ) I'll buy it. I didn't have an immediate need for the camcorder as I had just used the old one but for $140 (which is roughly half the price as ones I looked at in the store not long before buying it) it is just something I could not pass up. I'll use it at some point and it has everything I need in that type of product. If it lasts as long as my last camcorders 5-7 years, it is worth it
