We lost the remote to our bedroom television (gasp) and can't find one that will work with it. How do I go about ordering a new remote for my television? I know the make and model of the television but I threw the owners manual away, since I've had the television for a couple years now.

If depends on how much you want to spend. You can go to the manufacturers site and get info. It might be $30-80 for a new remote. You can get those remotes (they might be $8-15 at Home Depot, Lowe's or Best Buy) that have (usually 3 digit) codes for the manufacturers. It might not be as user friendly for everything on the manufactuers remote (like getting to the menu). If you just need channel and volume up and down and numbers it will probably do. You can also look for a factory refurbished Harmony at places like TIger Direct. It requires loading software on your PC and then selecting from their 225,000 items database of makes and models of different components.

Here's Home Depot's link (they are sold at the local store too). Note that the second link is for a $4.97 remote which is going to be a lot cheaper than the manufacturers. I bought one of the $10 GE ones (I have it downstairs somewhere) when I was decided what to do for a better universal remote for the seldom used basement system. It was OK
